I dunno -- I'd still say Roy "reaped the benefits" of the Gate by accident and not by choice. He didn't ask for any benefits. So I still maintain that there was no justification for his sight to be taken, if he not only didn't seek to go to the Gate, but actively tried to avoid it. That's a discussion that can go on forever, isn't it? :D
Now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember a Dorothy Dunnett discussion a while back. I forget who I've talked to about that and who I haven't. That, too, could be another majorly fun discussion. I so love those books!
But meanwhile! Back to our lovely Roy. And you're right -- I do need at least to show Roy and Riza's goodbye. I was way too rushed in November, and wasn't thinking. But that's absolutely necessary.
I think I may have done a thing or two in the fma_fic_contest community -- or at least I've written a couple of things from prompts, whether or not they came from there -- but I just don't get enough time lately. I'm trying to create more for myself, but the closer I get to the first of the month (and all the bills), the less able I am to concentrate on anything but scraping together enough funds for that. So my ability to concentrate is...spotty. :-)
