Heehee! I loved that line too. I've always felt they kind of had that sort of relationship. And I do like throwing in wee bits of humour like that.
Meanwhile, thanks for the comments! You can probably see what I meant about the thing still needing some polishing, though?
For one thing, I think Roy gives in too quickly. (I was very conscious of time moving on toward November 30th.) And I'm not sure about having that whole scene with all the kids; my original intent was simply to end with an Epilogue where all four of them meet on the train.
I also felt that Mei and Armstrong were really kind of superfluous, and not all that necessary to the plot. But of course, I was halfway through the story when I started thinking maybe I had just too many characters chasing poor Roy. I'll need to mull that over too.
By the way, eventually you'll see another vignette on FF.net, in my "What Price Vision?" series about different prices Roy might have paid to regain his sight. This price will be in that one too, in a different short story. That was actually the original, and gave me the idea for something I might be able to do for the NaNo. :-)
Anyway, I'm rambling now. Thanks for reminding me to get the rest of these chapters posted!
