(Chapter 1)

Alex finally got her confirmation a week later. She’d almost been expecting it on the first day, and then when nothing happened that day or the next, she started to put the ideas of myths and mythical deities to the back of her mind again. Even Vijay, who had wandered around the office in a state of nervous happiness the first couple of days, seemed to settle back to normal eventually. He only mentioned their experience those first two days, and then appeared almost to forget about it.

But... )

(Chapter 1, part 1)

Her son smiled agreement, and shaped his hand into the shape of a gun, it’s index finger-barrel pointing at Alex. “Bang,” he said softly.

Instantly, a wave of emotion rushed through Alex, sweeping her with it, as her heart began to race furiously. Look at that chef – just look at him! Had there ever been anyone so handsome in the world? So tall! So statuesque! The lines of wisdom on his face! Where had he been all her life?? Never mind, it didn’t matter – he was here now. She had found him at last. The man she had dreamed of, the one she’d been waiting for all her life.

Altering of a world view )

Gods of any description just weren’t a matter for daily concern for Alexandra, until that first dinner at the Dionysus restaurant as summer was just getting underway. And then they became far more of a daily concern than she would ever have dreamed – or wanted.

And so it begins... )

(Chapter 1, part two)

Hallo there! I am going to attempt the NaNoWriMo again this year. I am far less confident than usual that I'll succeed this time, because I have so many daily writing commitments already that I don't know if I can possibly add 1,667 words each day. But I'm sure going to try!

What I'm doing this year is picking up a previous story that I didn't manage to succeed with, for NaNo in 2004. I'm going to pick up where I left off, but not include the original writing in my final word count.

However, for the sake of continuity and getting the entire story here, I'm going to post what I had previously written, first. So these first few posts don't count, but they're necessary here, so people can read the story properly.

This time around, I'm just tossing gods into the milieu in Toronto, to see what sort of havoc they'll wreak with my two main characters -- Alexandra, who has Greek heritage, and Vijay, who has Indian background. The gods will mainly be Greek and Hindu, but I'm likely to toss a few others in as well, just for fun. If there's anything I love, it's mythological gods.

I foresee some disputes over jurisdiction.

Anyway, whoever pops in here, I hope you enjoy the story. Next post will begin the catchup stuff, in preparation for the new writing to start tomorrow.
